SUHP Leadership

Founding President: Henry Jacob

I am an incoming History Ph.D. student at Yale and a WHC Environmental Humanities Fellow. Currently, I am a Fulbright scholar in Panama City, Panama. Before that, I was a Henry Fellow at the University of Cambridge in the M.Phil. in World History program. My dissertation won the Mavis Batey Prize. Before, I graduated from Yale with a B.A. in History with distinction and a Certificate in Spanish. I received multiple prizes, including the Alpheus Henry Snow Prize. My writing has appeared in numerous peer-reviewed and popular venues.

Vice President: Shreya Sriram

Shreya Sriram is a third-year at Northwestern University where she majors in Economics and Communication Sciences and Disorders on the Pre-Medicine track. She is currently Editor-in-Chief of the Northwestern Undergraduate Research Journal where she leads a team of over 50 students in creating and releasing online content and a full length research journal. Shreya pursues her intellectual passions through her individual research in the Auditory Research Laboratory. Shreya hopes to explore the intersections of economics and healthcare as well as the importance of the patient experience in medical school. When not on campus, she can be found volunteering at Lurie Children's Hospital, performing stand up comedy, practicing Bharatanatyam (a Classical Indian dance style), or playing the violin in orchestra.

SUHP Conference Co-Coordinator: Kevin Bai

Kevin Bai is a third year student at Northwestern University studying MMSS and Economics. He is currently the Co-Managing Editor of Development at the Northwestern Undergraduate Research Journal. Outside of school, Kevin is also the Co-founder of Cure Benefits, a health benefits start-up aiming to bring transparency and common sense to the industry. In his free time, he enjoys playing violin, with recent music endeavors including starting a YouTube channel with his 11 year old brother and performing with NYO-USA for three summers.

SUHP Conference Co-Coordinator: John Cao

John Cao ’22 is a junior majoring in Mathematics, MMSS, and Piano Performance. He is also pursuing the Financial Economics Certificate in the Kellogg Certificate Program for Undergraduates. John is the Co-Managing Editor of Development in the NURJ and has been on the team for 3 years. Besides NURJ, John is also involved with the Algo Trading Club and AAIV. In his free time, he enjoys singing opera, powerlifting, and exploring quantitative investment and trading strategies.

High School Liaison: Amerdeep Passananti

Amerdeep Passananti is a senior at University High School in Irvine, California. Intending to enter college as a prospective history major, Amerdeep is interested in using historical writing as a means to create change in society. Having participated in the National History Day program since middle school, Amerdeep uses history to investigate the origins of issues- most notably at the intersection of public policy and environmentalism. In his free time, Amerdeep can be found running track, spreading random acts of kindness at his school, or getting barked at by his 4 pound dog, Peanut.
